The only way you can reach Tortuguero is by boat or by plane.
The wildly romantic canal system of Tortuguero is home to water birds, toucans, parrots, howler monkeys, sloth´s and many other wild animals. The sandy beaches are one of the few places in the world where different species of sea turtles have their nesting areas.
If you take an early morning tour to nearby Cerro Tortuguero you are promised lots of new, fascinating and lasting impressions. Poison arrow frogs sitting on branches that are hanging into the water. Sloth´s hanging in the treetops and several species of monkeys climbing and playing in the huge trees. The small village of Tortuguero will give you a flavour of the Costa Rica´s African culture, found only in the Caribbean area of Costa Rica.
